Now back at the Boathouse, 34 Commercial St., Belfast. The center is opened on Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Two exceptions: June 14 and Nov. 8, when the Boathouse is used as a polling place.) Area seniors 60+ years of age who are fully vaccinated against COVID and wear a mask are welcome.
May events at 12:30 p.m. include:
May 17, Belfast attorney Randolph A. Mailloux will discuss the necessity of having a proper estate plan in place, including appropriate documents, both for a will-based estate plan and a trust-based estate plan. Q&A will follow.
May 24, Sen. Glenn "Chip" Curry, D-Waldo, will talk about recent state legislation that can benefit seniors. Did you know you may be able to defer paying real estate taxes? If you are a full-time Maine resident, you will want to hear more about the $850 relief payment He will take questions and wishes to hear local concerns.
May 31, representatives from the Belfast Fire Department will provide information on fire prevention and safety in your home and the great outdoors. Learn about when to check devices in your home and when fire safety equipment expires.
Possible trips are in the works. Fundraisers are also coming up.
Masks are requested but the policy may change. Complimentary coffee, tea and snacks are available. The Belfast Soup Kitchen provides a free lunch IF you have signed up by 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Come enjoy games, cribbage, puzzles and bridge with "new" friends. The center provides a chance to get out after our long winter and enjoy the bay view along with some friendly conversion. Seniors aged 60-plus are welcome.
