Summer Solstice by the Sea Celebration

Arts & Entertainment
Jun 21, 2022
5:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Come to Sears Island for an evening of merriment to celebrate the start of summer. Enjoy live traditional music, readings, a procession on the causeway, hula hooping, sidewalk chalk, giant bubbles, a sun-themed StoryWalk, a “Rest and Read” area by the Carver Memorial Library, and sun paintings with the Penobscot Marine Museum.

Bring a picnic dinner, but be sure to save room for dessert, because Searsport’s own Stone Fox Farm Creamery will be selling ice cream. Sundog Solar of Searsport is the exclusive sponsor, making this event free and open to all, but a suggested donation of $5 per person or $10 per family will support Friends of Sears Island’s education and conservation programs.

Bring blankets or lawn chairs and be prepared to carry out what you carry in. No grills or open fires are permitted on Sears Island. Please leave your pets at home. Porta-potties will be available near the island gate. Sears Island is located at the end of Sears Island Road, off Route 1, just east of Searsport village. Parking will be along the causeway; please park along the guardrail facing south. In the event of poor weather, check facebook.com/friendsofsearsisland to learn if the event is cancelled.
